On Friday, 19 May 2023, in the evening at 19:45, in Panevėžio district municipality, Liubičiaus village, on the Krekenava–Skėmai–Grinkiškis regional road (kilometre 6), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a Toyota Corolla Verso and a Volkswagen Passat. Five people were injured — the 71-year-old driver of the Toyota (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 9-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 10-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), a 32-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and the 32-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 71-year-old driver of the Toyota (27 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober.
