On Thursday, 25 May 2023, in the evening at 18:40, in Kauno district municipality, Sausinės village, on Vanagynės street, at the junction with Vyšnių street, a Citroen Xsara Picasso hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the Citroen (50 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
