On Saturday, 3 June 2023, in the evening at 18:30, in Šiaulių district municipality, on Vytauto street, at the junction with J. Basanavičiaus street, a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved an Opel Corsa and a BMW. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 82-year-old driver of the Opel (28 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.22‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
