On Monday, 17 July 2023, in the afternoon at 15:35, in Prienų district municipality, Mardosų village, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 49), a Volvo V50 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of a BMW (2 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
