On Thursday, 17 August 2023, in the evening at 21:50, in Lazdijų district municipality, Bajoriškės village, on the Leipalingis–Lazdijai–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 29), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a Volvo S60 registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Audi, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (3.04‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene.
