On Saturday, 16 September 2023, at night at around 23:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Šėrių village, on Leitalės street, an Audi A6 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Audi (22 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (0.50‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
