On Saturday, 21 October 2023, in the evening at around 18:00, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, on the Marijampolė–Kybartai–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 13.40), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a vehicle, an Audi A6 and a car. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
