On Sunday, 22 October 2023, in the evening at 19:30, in Šilutės district municipality, on Kęstučio street near No. 3, a Seat Leon hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Seat (10 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
