On Thursday, 26 October 2023, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Utenos district municipality, on Aušros street near No. 89, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 530 D and a Volvo S60. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the BMW, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (1.55‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet.
