On Saturday, 28 October 2023, in the morning at around 5:00, in Šiaulių district municipality, on Plento street, at the junction with Papilės street, a Renault Megane Scenic hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 94-year-old driver of the Renault (27 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
