On Friday, 29 December 2023, in the evening at around 20:00, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Lyda main road (kilometre 30.67), a car hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of a car, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.17‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
