On Tuesday, 23 January 2024, in the evening at 19:20, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street, at the junction with J. Kruopo street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 320 and a light quad bike. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the BMW (30 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
