On Thursday, 1 February 2024, in the morning at 7:50, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Šilalė–Šilutė national road (kilometre 22), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Citroen C5 and a car. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the Citroen (less than a year of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. She fled the scene. Both drivers were sober.
