On Saturday, 13 April 2024, in the evening at 22:35, in Telšių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 77.68), a Tesla Motors ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Tesla Motors (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
