On Friday, 10 May 2024, in the evening at 19:41, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Širvintos–Družai–Vindeikiai regional road (kilometre 5.65), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot and an Audi. One person was injured — the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a helmet). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (3.16‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence.
