On Monday, 17 June 2024, in the evening at 17:26, in Kupiškio district municipality, on the Kupiškis–Virbališkiai–Pandėlys regional road (kilometre 15.85), a Citroen Berlingo hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 25-year-old pedestrian, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (2.40‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
