On Sunday, 23 June 2024, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Mažeikių district municipality, Kurmaičių village, on Mažeikių street, at the junction with Kurmaičių Sodo 1-oji street, a Mazda 5 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Mazda (7 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
