On Friday, 5 July 2024, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Rokiškio district municipality, Piepalių village, on the Rokiškis–Juodupė–Onuškis–Ilzenbergas regional road (kilometre 10), a Volkswagen Golf ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk, had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
