On Thursday, 25 July 2024, in the afternoon at 15:40, in Šiaulių district municipality, Poviliškių village, on the Šiauliai–Gruzdžiai–Naujoji Akmenė national road (kilometre 23), a Volvo FH registered in Latvia rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Volvo (35 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
