On Tuesday, 20 August 2024, in the morning at around 7:00, in Vilnius, on Kapsų street, at the junction with Panevėžio street, a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Honda CR-V and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 31-year-old cyclist (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Honda (27 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
