On Friday, 20 September 2024, in the morning at 10:50, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street, at the junction with Kranto street, a Subaru Forester hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 20-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 86-year-old driver of the Subaru (65 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
