On Sunday, 29 September 2024, at night at 0:10, in Šalčininkų district municipality, on Šv. Jono Pauliaus Ii street, at the junction with Nepriklausomybės street, a Volvo S60 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Volvo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.95‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 20-year-old passenger of the Volvo was drunk (1.30‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
