On Friday, 18 October 2024, in the evening at 17:05, in Vilnius, on Jonažolių street near No. 1, a Toyota hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 85-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Toyota (30 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
