On Wednesday, 13 November 2024, in the evening at 17:30, in Panevėžio district municipality, Vaivadų village, on Vilkatupio street near No. 2A, a BMW 5ER Reihe hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 63-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the BMW, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (1.72‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
