On Sunday, 8 December 2024, in the evening at 21:20, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 25.70), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 520D, a trailer/semi-trailer 3.5–10 t and a DAF XF 95.480 registered in Ukraine. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the BMW (18 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
