On Sunday, 22 December 2024, in the evening at 21:03, in Šiauliai, on Lieporių street, at the junction with V. Grinkevičiaus street, a Citroen C3 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Citroen (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.02‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
