On Thursday, 2 January 2025, in the evening at around 20:00, in Akmenės district municipality, on Taikos street, at the junction with Vytauto street, a BMW 525 D hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 27-year-old driver of the BMW (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He evaded sobriety testing and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
