On Monday, 6 January 2025, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on Tilžės street near No. 13, a Nissan Juke hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 11-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 8-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 61-year-old driver of the Nissan (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
