On Monday, 20 January 2025, in the evening at 19:40, in Kauno city municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 4.17), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Saab 9-3, a Peugeot 807 and a BMW 530. One person was injured — a 21-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Saab (1 year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. The 20-year-old driver of the BMW had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, there was freezing rain, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
