On Tuesday, 28 January 2025, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Vaitkaičių II village, on the Kiti keliai local road (kilometre 0.35), a Volkswagen Passat ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (8 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.86‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
