On Sunday, 16 February 2025, in the evening at 20:12, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 99), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Astra Sports Tourer and an Iveco 65C17. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Opel (22 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. He was drunk (2.21‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
