On Sunday, 9 March 2025, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Šiauliai, on Gegužių street near No. 30, at a yard or parking-lot exit, a Toyota Prius hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 65-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Toyota (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober.
