On Sunday, 9 March 2025, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Šiauliai, on Gegužių street near No. 30, at a yard or parking-lot exit, a Toyota Prius hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 65-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Toyota (2 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
