On Friday, 14 March 2025, in the evening at 19:05, in Panevėžio district municipality, Naujamiesčio town, on J. Basanavičiaus street near No. 47, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved a car and a Volkswagen Tiguan. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of a car, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (1.72‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene.
