On Thursday, 20 March 2025, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, on Maironio street near No. 25, at the junction with Nepriklausomybės street, a Renault Megane Scenic hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 87-year-old driver of the Renault (55 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober.
