Mercedes-Benz bus and two other cars crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road

On Sunday, 11 May 2025, at night at around 2:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Šaukliškės village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 248.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Mercedes-Benz, a Fiat Panda and a car. 13 people were injured — a 33-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 25-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 44-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 20-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 41-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), a 45-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 32-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 31-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), a 58-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient), a 55-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 60-year-old passenger of a car (hospitalized), a 50-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient) and a 13-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (43 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
