Drunk Audi driver in crash with another car on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Saturday, 6 September 2025, in the evening at 18:05, in Šilalės district municipality, Šaukliškės village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 248.15), an Audi A3 ran off the road. The collision involved the Audi and a car. Three people were injured — the 59-year-old driver of a car (treated as an outpatient), a 30-year-old passenger of the Audi (treated as an outpatient) and a 67-year-old passenger of a car (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.63‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
