On Monday, 12 May 2025, in the evening at around 22:00, in Vilnius, on Šaltkalvių street near No. 64, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW 535I and a BMW. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the BMW 535I, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.59‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
