On Sunday, 18 May 2025, in the morning at around 5:00, in Varėnos district municipality, Merkinės town, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 102), a Citroen C5 registered in Finland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person. He fled the scene.
