On Friday, 6 June 2025, in the morning at around 8:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Variekos village, on the Vilnius–Panevėžys (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 31.10), a BMW 320D ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
