On Saturday, 19 July 2025, at night at 1:10, in Šilalės district municipality, Girsteikių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 222.33), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ford Transit Connect registered in Anguilla and a Mercedes-Benz 312. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Ford (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.21‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
