On Sunday, 17 August 2025, in the afternoon at around 11:00, in Kaunas, on Vytauto pr. near No. 24, a bus hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 89-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of a bus (30 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry.
