On Sunday, 31 August 2025, in the evening at 22:31, in Kupiškio district municipality, Girsteikių village, on Alizavos street near No. 15, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a MTZ and an Opel Astra-G-Caravan. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the MTZ, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.46‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
