On Wednesday, 10 September 2025, in the morning at 7:42, in Kretingos district municipality, on Laisvės street, at the junction with Šiaulių street, a moped hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 16-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 12-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 16-year-old driver of a moped (1 year of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
