On Sunday, 26 October 2025, in the afternoon at 14:37, in Mažeikių district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 50.80), a Citroen C4 registered in Great Britain hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Citroen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
