On Monday, 8 December 2025, in the evening at around 19:00, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on Kretingos Plento street near No. 2, a moped hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 56-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 69-year-old driver of a moped, who failed to comply with road signs or markings. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
