On Monday, 22 April 2013, in the evening at 21:35, in Tauragės district municipality, on the Tauragė–Žygaičiai–Vainutas national road (kilometre 20), a collision with a moped occurred. The collision involved an Audi 100 and a moped. One person died — the 55-year-old driver of a moped. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Audi (37 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.22‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
