On Wednesday, 4 December 2013, in the afternoon at 16:23, in Kaunas, on Veiverių street near No. 150, a Mercedes-Benz 190 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 16-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 12-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 80-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
