On Wednesday, 4 December 2013, in the evening at 17:15, in Kauno district municipality, Karmėlavos town, on Vilniaus street, at the junction with Topolių street, a DAF FT XF 105.460T hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 55-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Poland) (15 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
