On Friday, 13 December 2013, in the morning at 5:40, in Šakių district municipality, Duobiškėlių village, on the Šakiai–Slavikai regional road (kilometre 5.71), a Volkswagen Golf rolled over. Three people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient), a 17-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 14-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.27‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
